84 Vaishnav ki Varta
This text contains the biographical stories of the 84 primary disciples of Shri Vallabhacharya Mahaprabhuji. These stories are read daily by Vaishnavs to understand how devotion is integrated into everyday life.
Prominent vartas include:
- Kumbhandas: A farmer who was called by Emperor Akbar to Fatehpur Sikri. He sang: 'Bhakti ko kahan Sikri so kaam' (What does a devotee have to do with royal palaces?) and rejected royal patronage.
- Damodardas Harsani: Represented absolute surrender to the Guru, acting as Mahaprabhuji's constant companion.
- Surdas: The blind poet who sang of Krishna's pastimes by seeing them with internal spiritual eyes.
